Just east of Bellingham on Squalicum Mountain is the Emerald Lake Neighborhood. Emerald Lake, more commonly known as Toad Lake is a small lake nestled into the forest that gives this area a secluded feeling. No motor boats are allowed on the lake however its great for fishing, swimming, rowing or paddle boats.
Homes located on the western hillside of Squalicum Mountain typically have views of the islands to the west, downtown Bellingham and/or Bellingham Bay. There are two “community only” lake access points from Emerald Lake Way and one public access point located on the southwest end from Toad Lake Road.
Emerald lake is open to fishing from April 28 to Oct 31
The lake is stocked with rainbow trout and kokanee fry
In general the public school tract for Emerald Lake Neighborhood is Northern Heights Elementary, Shuksan Middle School and Squalicum High School.
